Moku
On August 3rd, 2025, Tyler and Machi from SUPDog Hawaii were enjoying an evening Hike in Mokuleia on the North Shore of Oahu, when a beautiful brindle Hawaiian Hound walked out of the bushes and onto the trail in front of them.
The lost pup had no collar, no leash, and was visibly dirty, tired, and friendly. Moku’s life was about to change forever.
Without hesitation, Tyler and Machi encouraged the big brindle to follow them down the trail, to their vehicle where some water was stored. She was thirsty, and layed down softly in the back seat of their beach car of a Honda.

After a dawn dish soap shower, and a collar placed around her neck, the named Moku was bestowed upon her, resembling the hills of Mokuleia where she resided for an unknown duration of time.
The first few nights were rough, she didn’t trust our pack of dogs right away, and she’d bark anytime she lost sight of Tyler. The trauma and misteatment was eveident. Luckily, with some experimentation and patince, a decent routine was put into place for Moku to begin coming out of her shell.
After building confidence in her rescuers, Moku was ready to start trusting the world again. She made a few friends from the neighbor hood, and starting learning a new water activity with SUPDog Hawaii.
Her ability to learn, adapt and grow into new environments / skill sets was incredible. She did so good with the Paddle board activity she was promptly promoted to a SUPDog Experience host, and then provided an opportunity to test her new skills in the ocean surf!
